Example AR platform rifle.   SUPPRESSOR PURCHASE INFORMATION – NO NFA WAIT Effective October 9, 2026, the ATF no longer enforces the National Firearms Act approval, registration, and tax stamp requirements on suppressors. That means no Form 4, no fingerprints, no passport photos, no CLEO notification, and no months-long ATF wait. What is required: A standard ATF Form 4473 and NICS background check, the same as any firearm purchase from a licensed dealer. Buyer must be at least 21 years of age and not prohibited from possessing firearms. Transfer must go through a licensed dealer (FFL) in the buyer’s state of residence. Alabama residents may complete the transfer through Southern Auction Solutions. Out-of-state winners must arrange shipment to an FFL in their home state. Important – check your state law: The ATF change applies at the federal level only. Some states still require an approved federal Form 4 or registration for a suppressor to be legal there. Before bidding, buyers are responsible for confirming that suppressors are lawful in their state and locality. Buyers who want their suppressor federally registered can still file a voluntary Form 4.
